MOR-30002

This is a caudal vertebra, likely from a Crocodylomorph or Theropod Dinosaur. Similar to the type specimen of Kemkemia, it is indeterminable whether this bone is indeed Crocodylomorph or Spinosaurid.

Fossils from the Kem Kem beds are some of the most enigmatic, yet widely available on the market. As a fluvial delta system, bones are rarely found in association with others, making identification of species difficult at best. Many species are known from a single bone--Kemkemia is a crocodylomorph known from a single caudal vertebra.

These beds are rightly famous for the sheer biodiversity represented by the fossils found within them. Massive theropods like Carcharodontosaurus and Spinosaurus, aquatic legends like Onchopristus, and numerous avian Pterosaurs are all found in abundance. This region is rich with threads to be pulled by future researchers learning more about the past.
