This Crocodylomorph bone is an interesting example of Kem Kem bed material. Typified by the pitted surface structure and red coloration, Kem Kem Crocodylomorphs would have thrived in the fluvial delta systems millions of years ago.

Crocodylomorph Bone - 3.3" (8.4 cm)

Fossils from the Kem Kem beds are some of the most enigmatic, yet widely available on the market. As a fluvial delta system, bones are rarely found in association with others, making identification of species difficult at best. Many species are known from a single bone--Kemkemia is a crocodylomorph known from a single caudal vertebra.

These beds are rightly famous for the sheer biodiversity represented by the fossils found within them. Massive theropods like Carcharodontosaurus and Spinosaurus, aquatic legends like Onchopristus, and numerous avian Pterosaurs are all found in abundance. This region is rich with threads to be pulled by future researchers learning more about the past.
